  • The Knight appointed to this position provides brief spiritual discourses and reflections during business meetings for the “Good of the Order." If the lecturer cannot be present, he appoints a council member to give the reflection for him.

The grand knight appoints the lecturer to provide suitable education and entertainment programs for the council. It’s up to him to plan and present worthwhile programs that will help build meeting attendance and benefit the attending members.

Background

Jim McBride is a 4th Degree Knight & has been with Council 6031 since the 1980s. He volunteers in events, such as the annual Knight to Remember, & offers help when Brother Knights or neighbors face challenging times. Jim has been in St Gabriel’s parish since 1979. He served as a CCD teacher for several grade levels, including 4, 5, a 7-8 combo class & a confirmation class. He also was a lecturer for many years when masses were held in what is now the Monsignor Charles J Dollen Hall. Jim & his wife Pat celebrate 49 years of marriage this year. They have raised 6 children, have 9 grandchildren & one great grandchild. Jim served his country in Vietnam in 1969 as an Army  combat medic with a tank company.
